Wakefield Park
Sunday 6 March
The crowning event of the of the week-long Mini carnival will take place at Wakefield Park and will include Mini-only racing, motorkhana, Show’n’Shine, Mighty Minis parades and Mini Masters autograph sessions.
Racing will be controlled by Motor Racing Australia. There will be four races for each of Group N/Group C cars and Sports Sedans.
There will also be four regularity events, for those people not wanting to do the full racing but want to get involved on the track.
The Mighty Minis parades will be for famous and significant Minis, and there will be a parade at around 10.40am and another at around 1.40pm. We will be inviting people with significant Minis to bring them for the parade.
We have invited about 20 former top racing drivers and mechanics, etc, who will be our Mini Masters. The Mini Masters will take part in the Mighty Minis parades, traveling in or driving some of the Minis, and there will be a special autograph signing session at about 11.15am.
Bring along your Mini memorabilia, books, photos, posters, etc to get signed by your Mini heroes.
Click here to see those who have confirmed their attendance.
There will also be a Q&A forum after lunch, for about an hour from 2.45pm, with Stuart Turner, Bob Holden, Don Holland and former BMC Works mechanic Peter Bartram, answering questions from an MC and from the floor.
Track events will be run under AASA rules, and will be open to all holders of AASA or CAMS licenses.
If you are interested in taking part in any of the racing or regularities, contact Brian Walden at the MRA via email: brian@waldenmotorsport.com.au or brian@motorracingaustralia.com.au; or phone 02 4774 2633
If you have a significant Mini you would like to have in the Mighty Minis parade laps, contact Craig Watson via email watto@pipeline.com.au or phone 03 5250 4842.
The motorkhana is being organised by the Mini Car Club of NSW and as such will be run under CAMS rules. It will be open to anyone with a CAMS level 2NS license or better, and will be open to Minis, MINIs, Mokes and variants.
The motorkhana will be run to the same rules as the Hay Mini Nationals motorkhana, and will be open only to vehicles that can be road-registered – although registration itself is not a requirement.
If you are interested in competing in the motorkhana, contact Ron Adlam by phone on 02 9939 4611 or via email: manlyglass@bigpond.com.au
The Show’n’Shine will be organised by the ACT Mini Car Club and will also be run under a CAMS permit. However, as this is a non-driving event, competition licenses will not be required.
This event will only be open to Minis, MINIs, Mokes and variants, and will be judged in a number of classes, with special awards as well.
Numbers will be limited to around 100 cars, so book in early

For people wanting to attend the Oz50 Mini Festival in their Mini, but not enter any of the competitive events or Show’n’Shine, there will be a Mini-only carpark within the grounds near the centre of activities.
Spectator entry to Wakefield Park will be $10 per car for Minis, MINIs, Mokes and variants, and will include entry to the Mini-only carpark and to view all the events. Entry will include all occupants of the Mini vehicle, up to 4 people.
Spectators not arriving in Mini-based vehicles will be able to park in the main carpark and will pay $10 per person entry, which will include all events.
Trade stands: A central area within easy access to all activities will be for trade stands. It is expected that each club will have a stand, as well as The Mini Experience, as major sponsor, and all our other sponsors. Smaller sites for traders – being essentially Mini related businesses – will also be available.
Food: food and drink will be available at the venue.

Grand Finale:
To finish off the event, we will be having a parade on the race track of every Mini present, and will be trying to break the Australian record of 327 Minis in a parade, set at the Mini 40th celebrations in Qld in 2009.
All Minis that took part in the racing, regularity, motorkhana, Show’n’Shine, or Mighty Minis Parades will be able to enter the Oz50 Mini Parade at no additional charge.
All other Minis will be able to take part, for a small fee of $10 per car.
