Oz50 Mini Dinner
Friday 4 March 2011
The third major event of the week will be the dinner to celebrate 50 years of the Mini. This will be held at The Canada Bay Club, Five Dock, Sydney.
The evening will commence at 7.00 pm and will include a buffet dinner. The big news is we have confirmed two guest speakers – Stuart Turner and Bob Holden.
Stuart is the former manager of the BMC Competitions Department, who oversaw the Works rally team during the period of its greatest successes, particularly with the Mini and Austin Healey 3000, in the 1960s. He was also the motorsport manager at Ford for many years and since his “retirement” has been actively involved with motorsport safety. He is also an exceptionally good public speaker, and travels the world giving talks to car clubs and other interested groups.
Bob will be well-known to most Australian Mini enthusiasts, most notably for winning Bathurst in 1966, with Rauno Aaltonen, in a Cooper S. Bob’s Mini credentials also include winning his class the following year with Tony Fall, and three or four years of rallying and racing Minis with considerable success. Bob also has some terrific tales of his 60+ years in motorsport.
The evening will also include a few fun events to do with Minis, and possibly a slide show or movie presentation from Mini’s illustrious history.
Tickets are $90 per adult and $45 per child (under 15) and there will be a limit of 300 tickets available, so book early.
