Vanguards 1:43 1966 Bathurst Set of 2
From Vanguards’ 1:43 scale Heroes Of Australian Motorsport collection, these models are of the Cooper S Miis that finished second and third in the 1966 Bathurst 500 race, being driven by Bill Stanley/Fred Gibson and Bruce McPhee/Barry Mulholland respectively.
Although not perfectly accurate in some details – like being based on UK minis instead of Australian Minis – they are a good representation of the Minis that caused a sensation at that race in 1966, when the Cooper S took the first nine places outright. This is a record that still stands today, and is never likely to be beaten.
The diorama base is ceramic and, although not an accurate representation of the Bathurst track, provides an ideal display for the two Minis.
This set orginally retailed for around $100, and can still be found at that price in some shops. However, a bulk purchase has allowed us to sell them for the remarkably low price of only $49 plus postage.
