Mini Cooper & S - Jeremy Walton
This is much more the story of the Cooper and Cooper S, and their place in history, rather than a nuts and bolts detail of what makes a Cooper or Cooper S or how to tell a fake.
There are plenty of old photos of Coopers at play, though most have been published elsewhere. Although mostly black and white, there is an eight-page full colour section of photos in the centre.
While there are many figures quoted throughout the book, there are a few mistakes here and there.
This book is best described as a good overall history of the Cooper and Cooper S, particularly for people fairly new to the Mini scene.
At only 21x18cm, it is a good little companion to John Parnell’s now out of print tome on the Cooper S, but could never come close for technical detail or accuracy - nor does it try.
This is another fairly old book, first published in 1982, and reprinted in 2004, and does not include any information on the Rover Coopers. Walton also gives a bit of, quite unnecessary, history of his personal experiences with Minis.
However, for what you get, it is well priced.
