Mini 1959-2001
There’s not a lot you can say about the Mini that hasn’t already been said, but this almost-two-hour DVD packs in a lot of info, some great footage and some excellent events from the Mini’s 40th birthday - way back in 1999.
There are a few bonus extras, including a short documentary on the 40th birthday at Silverstone and Gaydon, and a swag of interesting development and publicity stills from the Mini’s illustrious history.
Although this DVD/video has been around for nearly ten years, it is still relevant for anyone with an interest in the Mini’s history.
The film of the 40th is great, if for no other reason than seeing thousands of Mini owners enjoying their cars.
With the 50th birthday now itself relgated to history, the DVD is a sad reminder that this sort of event will not happen again, as it was funded by Rover, when the Classic Mini was still in production - just.
Bonus material includes a visual of the new MINI, fresh from its release. Not much information, but some nice images.
There’s also a few fantastic pieces of in-car driving, including racing with Bill Sollis, and a stage of the Manx Historic Rally.
