Monte Carlo Rally - The Golden Age
If you have an interest in the history of the world’s most famous rally (not the fastest or the toughest), then this book is a pleasant and informative read, full of facts and trivia, and well worth adding to your shelf.
Each year, from 1911-1980 (not-including the War-affected years) is covered over three or four pages.
The period of most interest to Mini fans - 1960 when the first Minis competed, to 1968 when they last featured in the results - covers a total of 52 pages.
The most-controversial year (1966, when the Minis were ‘really’ 1st, 2nd & 3rd) gets plenty of detail, as do the three years of Cooper S domination (and Paddy Hopkirk’s 1964 handicap win is not glossed-over).
Ideal for any rally enthusiast, and a good read for the Mini die-hards as well.
